Oshawa, Ontario

Oshawa is an award-winning, dynamic city of 152,000. Located just 40 minutes east of Toronto, we are nestled between Canada’s largest metropolis and Ontario’s most appealing cottage country.

Our city has gained international recognition as a world leader and as a leading-edge community where exciting things are happening. Oshawa is a beautiful city and has won four major Communities in Bloom competitions and received a gold award at the International Awards for Liveable Communities.

Our recreational facilities, breathtaking gardens, and extensive network of parks and accessible trail system are just a few of the “amazing” things we have to offer.

Oshawa Community Greening Initiatives and Projects

Oshawa has a rich natural heritage with three major watershed areas that comprise over 60% of the City’s total parkland inventory. As a proud partner with organizations such as the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority, Scouts Canada, Rotary Club, Durham Field Naturalists, and Friends of the Second Marsh, Oshawa has taken a lead role in the planting of 1000’s of native trees and shrubs combined with a significant reduction in grass mowing. Regular commitment to initiatives such as Communities in Bloom, Pitch-in Canada, Scoutrees, and Environmental Earth Angels ensures our community focus is green.
